The Age of Transfer Building at Wye Valley School Bourne End was constructed for Buckinghamshire County Council to a brief developed from a basic Local Authority design. The application of commercial construction methods and management techniques for the resolved design resulted in 20% additional floor area of whilst achieving an enhanced facility, built on programme and to a fixed budget. The building comprises two science laboratories at ground floor and four classrooms at first floor, with the flexibility within its construction to build an additional storey at a later date. The high insulation and independent building management system provide an efficient low energy building. The finished building is light, airy, resilient and is popular with teachers and students alike. The quality and cost is now used as a bench mark for new school buildings in the area.
