The client Servomex a leading supplier of high performance gas analysers, gas analysis systems and transducers is part of Spectris Plc who required a new single modern production building of 4645m² close to their existing facilities in the Crowborough area.

The site of the new building, situated on sloping ground and heavily screened by mature belts of trees around all boundaries, was further restricted by the existing topography, ecology, the location of a gas main, foul and sewage pipes and the rate of discharge of surface water into The Ghyll. A new access road was constructed including bridging the river.

The building comprises manufacturing on the ground floor including clean room environments with research and administration at first floor level.

The external treatment reflects the functional requirements within the building with highly serviced external compounds areas placed adjacent to the northern elevation and external shading to the southern elevation.
